SHARING SPACE, THOUGHTFULLY.

Roommate matching
participation agreement.

By submitting the Still Out There Roommate Vibe Check and participating in the roommate matching program, I acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. Purpose of the Roommate Matching Program

Still Out There offers roommate matching as a convenience for solo travelers who have booked shared accommodations and do not already have a roommate.

The purpose of the program is to make a thoughtful, good-faith effort to pair travelers whose sleeping habits, room preferences, social styles, schedules, communication preferences, and other shared-room habits appear reasonably compatible.

Roommate matching is intended to improve the shared travel experience. It is not a guarantee of friendship, personality compatibility, or a conflict-free rooming experience.

2. Same-Gender Roommate Matching

Travelers participating in the roommate matching program will be paired with another traveler of the same gender.

Roommate assignments are based primarily on the information provided through the roommate questionnaire and any relevant operational considerations identified by the Still Out There team.

Still Out There does not guarantee roommate matches based on age, occupation, hometown, marital status, political views, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, or other personal characteristics unrelated to practical shared-room compatibility.

3. Accuracy of Questionnaire Responses

I agree to answer the roommate questionnaire honestly and to the best of my knowledge.

I understand that the quality of my roommate match depends in part on the accuracy of the information I provide regarding matters such as:

Sleep schedule

Snoring

Sleep sensitivity

Smoking or vaping

Room temperature

Cleanliness and organization

Bathroom and morning routines

Nightlife habits

Personal-space preferences

Communication style

Other shared-room habits

I understand that intentionally inaccurate or misleading answers may make an appropriate roommate match more difficult.

If my circumstances materially change after completing the questionnaire, I agree to notify Still Out There so that the change can be considered before final room assignments are made.

4. Compatibility-Based Matching

I understand that Still Out There may use questionnaire responses, compatibility scoring, software tools, automated calculations, and human review when evaluating possible roommate pairings.

Automated scoring is used as a decision-support tool only. Final roommate assignments are reviewed and determined by the Still Out There team.

I understand that compatibility scores are estimates based on the information provided by travelers and are not medical, psychological, or scientific guarantees of compatibility.

5. No Guarantee of a Perfect Match

I understand that sharing accommodations with another traveler inherently requires flexibility, patience, communication, and reasonable compromise.

Even travelers with very similar questionnaire responses may have different personalities, habits, expectations, or preferences once traveling together.

Still Out There will make a reasonable good-faith effort to create compatible pairings but cannot guarantee that:

I will become friends with my roommate;

My roommate and I will have identical habits or preferences;

My roommate will never snore, make noise, return to the room late, wake earlier than I do, use the bathroom when I would prefer to use it, or otherwise inconvenience me;

Disagreements or personality conflicts will never occur; or

Every preference expressed on my questionnaire can be accommodated.

Normal differences between adults sharing a hotel room are not, by themselves, grounds for a guaranteed roommate reassignment.

6. Courtesy and Respect

I agree to treat my roommate and other Still Out There travelers with courtesy and respect.

This includes making reasonable efforts to:

Respect sleep and quiet time;

Keep shared areas reasonably clean;

Coordinate bathroom and getting-ready schedules when necessary;

Avoid unreasonable disruption when entering or leaving the room;

Respect personal belongings and personal space;

Communicate concerns respectfully and directly when appropriate; and

Avoid threatening, harassing, intimidating, or abusive behavior.

Participation in shared accommodations requires travelers to be capable of respectfully sharing space with another adult who may have different personal backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, lifestyles, or perspectives.

7. Personal Differences Are Not Grounds for Exclusion

I understand that roommate matching is based on practical shared-room compatibility.

Participation in the roommate matching program does not give me the right to require that my roommate share my personal, social, religious, political, cultural, or lifestyle views.

If I have a legitimate concern involving sleep, health, accessibility, privacy, personal safety, smoking, or another practical shared-room issue, I agree to disclose that concern through the questionnaire or directly to Still Out There.

8. Health, Accessibility, and Personal Information

I may voluntarily provide Still Out There with information concerning health, accessibility, sleep equipment, privacy needs, or other personal circumstances when I believe that information is relevant to creating an appropriate roommate assignment.

I understand that such information will be used only as reasonably necessary for roommate matching, accommodation planning, traveler support, or related trip operations, in accordance with Still Out There’s applicable privacy practices.

Still Out There will make reasonable efforts to limit disclosure of sensitive information. When possible, a roommate will be informed only of the practical information necessary to share the room successfully rather than the underlying medical or personal reason.

For example, a roommate may need to know that a sleep device creates some noise without needing to know the traveler’s medical diagnosis.

9. Contact With My Assigned Roommate

Once roommate assignments are finalized, I authorize Still Out There to provide my assigned roommate with reasonable contact information for the purpose of introducing us before the trip.

This may include my:

First and last name;

Email address; and/or

Mobile telephone number.

Still Out There may also facilitate introductions through email, WhatsApp, group messaging, or another communication method used for the trip.

I agree to use another traveler’s contact information only for legitimate trip-related communication and not for marketing, solicitation, or unrelated purposes.

10. Roommate Assignments May Change

I understand that roommate assignments may remain provisional until Still Out There confirms them as final.

Assignments may change because of:

Cancellations;

New bookings;

Changes between shared and private accommodations;

Hotel inventory;

Accessibility considerations;

Updated traveler information;

Room configuration;

Operational requirements; or

Other circumstances affecting the trip.

Still Out There reserves the right to modify a roommate assignment when it reasonably believes doing so is appropriate or necessary.

11. Problems During the Trip

If a significant roommate problem arises during the trip, I agree to notify a Still Out There representative promptly rather than allowing the issue to continue unnecessarily.

Still Out There may attempt to mediate the concern or explore alternative rooming arrangements when appropriate.

I understand, however, that an alternative room may not be available and that Still Out There cannot guarantee that a roommate change can be made.

If I request a private room or another accommodation change because of a personal preference or ordinary roommate disagreement, any additional hotel or accommodation cost may be my responsibility.

Nothing in this provision prevents Still Out There from taking immediate action when it reasonably believes there is a genuine safety, harassment, or serious behavioral concern.

12. Private-Room Alternative

Travelers who do not wish to participate in roommate matching may request private accommodations.

Private rooms are subject to availability and the applicable single-room supplement or other additional accommodation charges.

Once roommate assignments have been finalized, the availability of a private-room upgrade cannot be guaranteed.

13. Removal From a Shared Room

Still Out There reserves the right to change a traveler’s room assignment when behavior creates a significant safety, harassment, disruption, or shared-room problem.

Depending on the circumstances and available hotel inventory, a traveler whose conduct makes continued shared accommodation unreasonable may be required to move to another available room and may be responsible for resulting additional accommodation costs where permitted by the applicable booking terms and law.

14. Information Used for Matching

I understand that information submitted through the roommate questionnaire may be stored and processed for the purpose of administering my trip and roommate assignment.

Still Out There may use software, spreadsheets, automated scoring systems, and other service providers as part of this process.

Information provided for roommate matching will not be used to create public profiles or publicly disclose questionnaire responses.

15. Final Acknowledgment

By participating in roommate matching, I acknowledge that sharing a hotel room with another adult involves normal differences, compromises, and interpersonal interactions that cannot be predicted by a questionnaire or matching system.

I understand that Still Out There is providing a compatibility-based matching service as a convenience and will make a reasonable good-faith effort to create an appropriate match.

I agree to provide honest information, communicate respectfully, exercise reasonable flexibility, and treat my roommate with courtesy regardless of our personal differences.

I have read and understand this Roommate Matching Participation Agreement and voluntarily agree to participate in the Still Out There roommate matching program.
